My Boracay Trip!

Finally, I was back in Boracay last March 25. The last time I was there, it was during Ondoy days and to top it all, my camera just broke when I was waiting for my boarding time in Manila Domestic Airport. It was the worst experience I had in Boracay (Oh! Did I mention that it is my first time as well?).

First, a lot of events to celebrate: (1) my niece's, Frances Gabrielle, post birthday (March 1) celebration, (2) mom's post birthday (March 22) and (3) my parents' 29th wedding anniversary (March 26). Going on a beach with my family was really to look forward to since it was ages the last time that we're together especially my elder got married and has 2 kids. We stayed in Boracay Courtyard which was included in our package was a typical 3D/2N and thanks to Zestful Getaways. Although it was not beachfront, still we're happy with the hotel where we stayed.

I had my fair share in Boracay, I was able to drink fruit shakes from Jonah's, experienced paraw sailing, slept on the shore, experienced eat-all-you can food in Sunset Bar, party hard in Epic Bar and Juice Bar and met some cool guys (Too bad I wasn't able to get their numbers. Loss!). In short, Boracay has a lot to offer but I wasn't able to experience it. The next time I'll be back, I'll make sure that if I'm not with my friend, I'll be with my special someone. Hehe.

BRINGAS means in Basque (Bilboa), "Big Splinter"

HERALDIC MEANING

The Heraldry, full of simbología, had the function to show the elements of identity, diferenciadores of the others, of that one that was carrying it. Of this form, in the shield of weapon we meet several symbols and enamels. The shield of weapon stops being, fundamentally, the defensive piece, to turn into a description of the qualities of
the gentlemen who carry it. Each of the components that they it form(train) has a meaning and a porqué of being there. This section will try to give a bit of light to the comprehension of the shields of weapon or heraldries.

In field of azure, three towers of silver, tidy well, surmontada each one, of a star of silver, damaged the three, of a greyhound of the same metal. Mordura of gules, with eight ermines of silver.

Those of the Encartaciones: in field of gold, a tree of sinople and a wolf of saber assistant at the foot of the trunk. Bordura of gules, with eight golden arms.

In Carranza's valley one finds a multitude of megalithic monuments as dolmens or tombs. In 1904 there were discovered the engravings of Ventalaperra's cave, in Molinar's neighborhood, besides other archaeological remains in enclaves of the same environment studied at the beginning of the 20th century by J. M. Barandiarán.
Carranza turns out to be already named as Carrantia in the Chronicle of Alfonso III as place populated during the reign of Alfonso I (8th century).
In several ancient documents, Carranza is called Carrantia and also Carrandia. Though the term(end) seems clearly of Latin origin, consensus does not exist on his(her, your) meaning.
Along the last millenium the historians have gathered different lineages in the valley, which names still(yet) perviven in toponyms of neighborhoods and in current surnames of carranzanos, as Ahedo, Bringas, Shell, Aldeacueva, Gil or Negrete.

My Visita Iglesia.

I can still remember when I was a kid and I was 7 or 8 years old that my family used to visit different churches every Maundy Thursday. During those time, we used our Toyota Ricni Jeep type to visit churches and Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parish Church in San Mateo, Rizal will be our first stop for the Station of the Cross.

We usually left our house after dinner and that would be around 8pm. As a kid, you were curious on many things and you keep asking questions to your parents on the things you can see in the streets. I usually ask my parents why groups of people are walking and where they are heading because you can see a lot of groups every Maundy Thursday. My parents will answer me back that they are going to a grotto. All the while, I thought there is just one grotto because from doing a church hopping, I can see more and more groups that are walking. So my parents told me that there are lots of grotto where people could visit and one of them is located in Montalban, Rizal; the other one is San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan and the other is located in Antipolo City.

We tried to visit as many churches as we can to complete the station of the cross. Before, we have tried to complete 14 churches and I forgot what churches were those. Hehe. As a kid, you were so playful. I was so playful. I was a naughty kid. One of the church has a sloping road where you can drop off your family if you have a car but there's still stairs beside the road and this church is the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Claret, QC. I used to walk going to church and run downwards in the sloping road. As usual, my parents will scold at me because we were inside the church vicinity and I need to pay attention and respect. See, I was a naughty kid. Hehe.

I know it was already late and I was sleepy yet I keep fighting for it and wants to see the colorful streets. By the time we arrived in some churches, those churches were already closed because we know it in ourselves it was already late because it was already eleven in the evening. But we still continue to visit the next nearest church from the last church we had visited. Mostly, we tried to visit the churches in Quezon City, Marikina City and San Mateo, Rizal. This was our route every year.

After several years of not doing the Visita Iglesia, it happened again last April 9 and I insisted my parents that we need to do this. But this time, my elder sister couldn't join us because she has her own family already. Maybe in the next few years, my sister and her family could join us again.
